David “Dave” Leo Garvey

David “Dave” Leo Garvey, age 69, of Ankeny, Iowa formerly of Webster City, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his home in Ankeny.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10:30 am at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E 1st St, Ankeny, IA 50021. There will be a one-hour visitation at the church before the service on Tuesday. Burial with full military rites will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 9:30 am at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Dr, Adel, IA 50003.

David “Dave” Leo Garvey was born on November 17, 1955, to Iola Margurite (Lindmark) and John Sylvester Garvey in Boone, Iowa. He was the 6th born of seven children. He graduated from Stratford Community High School in 1974. Dave enlisted into the United States Navy on January 7, 1975, and served honorably until his discharge on July 6, 1977. During his time in the Navy, he served as a ship radar technician and was stationed on USS Leahy at Long Beach, California. After his discharge he returned to Stratford, Iowa and began driving semi-trucks at the Stratford Co-Op. Over the years, Dave worked as a Commercial Truck Driver for various companies.

Dave was united in marriage to Rona Lincoln on December 5, 1980, at the First Evangelical Free Church in Boone, Iowa. They have two daughters, Kara and Molly. The couple later divorced in 1984. Dave met Cheryl Lynn Blackburn on February 26, 1987, and he was united in marriage on September 17, 1988, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Dave enjoyed grilling and BBQing and working in his garage. He loved taking his beloved beagle, Cooper DeVille, around town on drives. Dave dearly loved spending time with his family.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents and great grandson, Miles Seeley, He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; five children, Kara Lincoln, Molly Garvey, Julie (Marshall) Tolly, Ryan Blackburn, and Robert Blackburn; 12 grandchildren, Freddie, Christopher, Robert, Kaitlynn, Bryce, Leo, Ella, Audrey, Mason, Orion, Oliver, Aurora; two great grandchildren, Maverick and Jessica, and six siblings, Jerry (Toni) Garvey, Denny (Janell) Garvey, Joan (Robert Johnson) Smith, Roger (LuAnn) Garvey, Mary Garvey, and Raymond (Missy) Garvey; and brother-in-law, Lanny Lincoln, and numerous nieces and nephews.
