Robert Doolittle

Robert “Bob” Doolittle, 94, of Webster City died Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Van Diest Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. A private burial will be at Cass Center Cemetery.
Robert Wayne Doolittle, son of Wayne and Viva (Shields) Doolittle, was born April 17, 1930, in Webster City. He received his education in Clarion, Webster City, Ellsworth and Renwick schools, graduating from Renwick High School in 1948. After high school, he attended Iowa State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture in 1952. From 1953 through 1959 he worked for Thompson Hatchery Farms at Ellsworth. In 1960, Bob moved to a farm southwest of Webster City near Homer and started Doolittle Turkey Farm. He was united in marriage to Darlene C. Hanna on January 16, 1965, in Mason City. The couple operated the farm until 1986 when they moved into Webster City. Robert then worked for Van Diest Supply until he retired in 1995.
During that time that they lived on the farm, Robert was active in several farm and industry organizations. He liked to bowl and was active in the Webster City Men’s Bowling Assoc. for many years. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, past president of the Iowa Turkey Federation and a past member of the Webster City Moose Lodge. Bob enjoyed working on wood projects for his children and grandchildren.
After retiring Robert, Darlene and their sons built a new house doing most of the work themselves along with the help of a few friends.
He is survived by his sons, Tod (Judy) Doolittle of Webster City, Rick (Holly) Doolittle of Wheatland, Troy Doolittle of Los Gatos, CA; grandchildren, Dakotah (Alyssa), Greyson, Ryeland, Drake (Kennedy), Hannah (Carter), Carson and Aiden Doolittle; stepgrandchildren, Brendan and Bailey Reynolds and great-grandson, Ridge Rholl.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene in 2012; his parents, Wayne and Viva, and his sister, Thearon Drevs.
