Michael Kennedy

Michael Kennedy, 50, of Ames, died Sunday, June 9, 2024. A Celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will follow in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, south of Stanhope. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Family requests those in attendance wear casual attire.

Michael William Kennedy, son of David and Ann (Henderson) Kennedy, was born June 9, 1974, in Ames. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1992. On March 29, 1997, Mike was united in marriage to Robin Ubben in Nashua. To this union two children were born, Mykah and Ravyn. The couple later divorced. For several years he was employed with Kmart, Iowa Select Farms and Dan Foss. On September 6, 2020, Mike married Heidi Radden in Ames. He worked for 24 years as a Detention Officer for Story County Sheriff’s Office.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi of Boone; daughters, Mykah (Tristan) Peterson of Davenport, Ravyn (Trevor Goulding) Kennedy of Webster City and their mother, Robin Ubben-Harms of Duncombe; son, Samuel Farnham of St. Paul, MN; step-daughter, Sara Peterson of Ames; parents, Dave and Ann Kennedy of Stanhope; brother, Mark Kennedy of Webster City; niece and nephew, Steven and Elizabeth Kennedy and his dog, Roger.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Nilva Jean Henderson, Marvin and Della Kennedy; uncle, William O. Henderson; great-grandmothers, Mabel Klein and Pearl Knight.

He enjoyed his job at the jail, working out at Ames Racquet and Fitness, listening to 80s music, coaching his girls in softball, camping and playing Mario Kart.

Memorials may be given to the family to start a fund with the Story County Sheriff’s Office in Mike's honor for those officers that need assistance with mental health.
