Donald Eugene Rasmussen, son of Howard and Dorothy (Wilson) Rasmussen, was born January 6, 1937 at his grandparents' home in Eagle Grove. He graduated from Vernon Consolidated schools. On September 21, 1963, Don was united in marriage to Anita Elsner at Sacred Heart Church in Boone. Don farmed his entire career raising corn, soybeans, swine and cattle. He was proud of his registered purebred Gelbvieh cattle and showed and sold cattle throughout the Midwest. In 2009 the couple retired, and they moved to Webster City. He could then be found most mornings enjoying coffee with his Webster City buddies. He was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan and season ticket holder of men’s and women’s basketball tickets for many years. His most enjoyable Cyclone memory was traveling to Madison Square Garden in New York City with friends to watch the Cyclones play in NCAA tournament.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anita; sons, Todd (Jennifer) Rasmussen of Milford, Trent (Carol) Rasmussen of Webster City; daughters, Tara (Dan) Avery of Urbandale, Tricia (Wade Fortune) Venzke of Ames; grandsons, Keegan Rasmussen, Nathan Rasmussen, and Jackson Avery and brother, David (Kay) Rasmussen.

Don is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Avis Rasmussen and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Hamilton County Beef Producers, and Hamilton County Pork Producers. Don served as a 4-H leader and usher at church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.

We love you, Dad. May you rest in eternal peace.
