Cleta Cupp
Cleta Cupp, 93, of Webster City, died Monday, April 1, 2024, at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Cleta Ione Cupp, daughter of Thomas and Flossie (Gleim) Watters, was born August 10, 1930, in Paton, Iowa. She graduated from Paton High School and attended business school in Fort Dodge. On March 8, 1950, Cleta was united in marriage to Roger C. Johnson in Fort Dodge. To this union, three children were born — Gary, Marty and Ranae. She worked many years as a bookkeeper for Trinity Lutheran Church, Products, and Russ Cress Chevrolet. Roger died in 1970. On October 21, 1974, Cleta married Ernest E. Cupp in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple owned and operated Webster City Floral for 17 years, retiring in 1993.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Janna) Johnson of Waukee, Marty (Gloria) Johnson of Clarion, Ranae Mortenson of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one due in May; sister, Barbara Hilbert of Fort Dodge; cousin, Linda Cormaney and many other extended family members.
Cleta was preceded in death by her husbands, Roger Johnson in 1970 and Ernie Cupp in 2009; her parents; brothers, Clinton Watters and Ervin Watters; and sister, Aletha Ruth.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and active in the Mary Martha Circle. Cleta was also a member of the Webster City Women’s Club and she enjoyed reading and working with flowers.
Memorials may be left in Cleta’s memory to the Jane Young House Foundation.
