Patricia Hoversten

Patricia Ann Hoversten of Radcliffe, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2023, surrounded by her children, at the Hubbard Care Center following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Patricia was born September 4, 1940, to Alvin and Charlotte (Murphy) Hilpipre. She attended Blairsburg School and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams where she served in many roles. She was united in marriage to Gerold Dean Hoversten on July 15, 1958. They raised seven children Melanie, Martin, Rosalie, Darla, Clint, Clay and Eileen. Patricia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be remembered most for her strong love of family, caring nature, generosity, positive spirit and warm smile.

Patricia and Gerold lived in rural Radcliffe where they farmed and raised hogs, cattle and turkeys before retiring and moving to town. Patricia also worked outside the family farm in various roles, including Butler Manufacturing and Iowa State University prior to her retirement in 2007. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and spending time with family. It gave her great joy to have all of her children and grandchildren living in close proximity so she could see them frequently.

She is survived by her children Melanie (Daryl) Eide, Rosalie Wilbanks, Darla (Kevin) Thomas, Clint Hoversten, Clay (Dana Wilson) Hoversten, and Eileen Dilley; and grandchildren Marty (Kris) Eide, Luke Eide, Kyla Eide (Shannon Loyd), Abby (Matt) Tamura, Adam (Cassie) Wilbanks, Alex Wilbanks, Levi (Michelle) Thomas, Tanner Thomas, Taylor Garcia, Eli Hoversten, Emeri Hoversten, Calvin Hoversten, Harley Hoversten, Haley Dilley and Hadyn Dilley; and great-grandchildren, Regan, Ruby, Tessa, Jade, Jack, Daxen, Lennon and Ty; brother Mike (Ann) Hilpipre, sisters-in-law Betty Hilpipre, Connie (John) Keane and Marcia Hoversten. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerold, son Marty, parents Alvin and Charlotte Hilpipre, brother Ron Hilpipre, infant sisters Linda and Janis Hilpipre; and in-laws Gaylord and Dorothy Hoversten, Eleanor Anders, Russell Anders and Rodney Hoversten.

Patricia was an avid reader, a children’s education advocate and had served as a member of the Radcliffe Library Board. In her honor, memorial donations will be provided to the Radcliffe Public Library Friends Fund.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 1:30 PM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams, IA.

Burial will take place in the Williams Cemetery.
