Jan Green

Janet Lee Potts, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (VanLangen) Potts, was born May 12, 1940 in Jefferson. She graduated from Kamrar High School in 1957. In 1958, Jan was united in marriage to Bob Roberts and to this union two children were born. The couple divorced in 1964. In 1970, Jan was married to Leo McDermott. The couple had been married for seven years, when an unfortunate accident took Leo. On October 20, 1977, Jan wed Richard Green in Elk Point, SD. To this union she welcomed five bonus children. Some of her early employment included Franklins and Webster City Custom Meats. For many years she worked as a cook for the Webster City Community Schools, and later in life the Webster City Congregate Meals.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Sharon) Roberts of Marion, Michelle (Doug) Ober of Humboldt, Kimberly (Bruce Wagner) Chambers of Fort Dodge, Shawn (Mark) Behnke of Virginia Beach, VA, Tom Olson of Williams, Mindy Green of Webster City, Lanny Green of Duncombe; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bruce (Diane) Green of Fountain Hills, AZ and Peg Jansen of Texas and 4-legged fur-kitties.

Jan was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo McDermott and Rich Green; daughter, Sherri Olson; her father, Charles Potts; mother and stepfather, Elizabeth (Hugo) Schrock; great-granddaughter, Remington Wagner; brother, Harlan Potts; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry (Esther) Green; brothers-in-law, Carl Jansen and Curt (Judy) Green and sister-in-law, Judy Grove.

Jan was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved all her time spent with her children and grandchildren. Jan also enjoyed going gambling and playing Bingo.
