Patricia “Pat” (Packard) Yungclas

The eldest child of Bruce Gordon Packard, Sr. and Ruth Maria Hathaway, Pat was born July 27, 1929, and raised in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating in 1946. Pat met Don R. Yungclas, on a blind date, while attending Grinnell College. They were wed August 9, 1949, for nearly 70 years, until Don’s death on April 15, 2019.

Pat supported Don’s ministry, being active in church work and choir, including his interim pastorate at the Webster City First Congregational United Church of Christ during 1994 and 1995.

Pat is survived by her children Wendy Lee (Russ), Kate Nelson (Phil), Betzi Yungclas, David Yungclas (Cynthia), and Nancy Gilbert (Bob); brothers Gordon Packard (Karen), Alan Packard (Judith); siblings-in-law, Shirley Yungclas of Webster City, Roger Forrester of Murphys, CA, Sarah Yungclas, Bill and Barbara Yungclas of Ames; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Wichita United Church of Christ.
