Galord Leon Paine, son of John Howard and Avis (Shelton) Paine, was born November 7, 1935, on the family farm near Woolstock. He attended Fremont #2 and Freedom Township #2 country schools. Galord graduated from Lincoln high school in 1954 and then attended Iowa State University before returning home to farm with his father. In 1956, he met LoEda Voss at a dance at the Laramar Ballroom in Fort Dodge. On November 17, 1957, they were united in marriage in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. The couple resided on the family farm near Woolstock, later moving to a farm near Highview and then a farm on Wall Street west of Webster City. In 2000, they retired and moved into Webster City. Galord farmed his entire life and was also a Rural Mail Carrier with the United States Postal Service, retiring from the postal career in 1995. He enjoyed getting to know all the people on his route and checking on their crops as he drove along.

Over the years, Galord and LoEda enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and several foreign countries. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Iowa Rural Letter Carriers Association, and past vice-president of the Highview Co-Op Board (later merging to become United Co-Op) serving 15 years. He also was a proud member of the Honor Guard with the American Legion Post #191.

Galord enjoyed his early morning coffee group at Hy-Vee and golfing with his friends at Briggs Woods. He loved going to the farm to restore several of his antique tractors. He rode in many WHO tractor rides and was a member of the North Central Iowa Tractor Club.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, LoEda; son, Greg (Lanie) Paine of Duncombe; granddaughter, Abby (Zach) Trent of Duncombe; great-grandchildren, Karson and Bailey Trent and several nephews.

Galord was preceded in death by his father, John Howard Paine; his mother and stepfather, Avis and John Stearns; brother, Howard Channing Paine; parents-in-law, Henry and Esther Voss and brother-in-law, Robert (Lois) Voss.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Galord to the American Legion Post #191 or Gentiva Hospice.
