CALVIN YOUNG

Calvin Young, age 65 of Webster City, IA, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home after a 14 month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at Briggs Woods Conference Center in Webster City, with a Memorial Service starting at 4:00 p.m. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.

Calvin Edward Young, son of Gary and Gloria (Gatewood) Young, was born February 12, 1956, in Webster City. He attended Webster City schools. On February 1, 1975, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Dencklau in Vincent, IA. The couple resided in Webster City where Calvin worked many years for Iowa Beef Processors in Fort Dodge, Electrolux, and Van Diest Supply in Webster City before retiring.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barb of Webster City; daughter, Kellie Young (Brian Myers) of Earlham; son, Greg (Amy) Young of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Kailey, Carter, Kempton, Grant, Chloe, Blake and Claire; brothers, Robin (Judy) Young of Lake View, AR, Bill Young of Webster City; sisters, Luana (Don) Hollingshead of Williams and Mindy (Joe) Scott of Garner; aunt, Barb Young of Webster City; several nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Young, and granddaughter, Leighton Myers.

Calvin grew up fishing and hunting and loved to talk about his fishing adventures with family and friends. His love for his grandkids was immeasurable and, even if the fish were biting, his family came first. He enjoyed the outdoors as well as fixing and building things. Cancer may have taken his life, but he made sure to spend the last year making more than a lifetime of memories that his loved ones will forever hold dear in their hearts.
