LUCKY SMOTHERMAN
Lucky Smotherman, 74, of Story City passed away December 12, 2021. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 18 at 10:00 am at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 at the church.
Lucky was born on February 9, 1947 in California to Oliver D. (O.D.) and Grace (Caudle) Smotherman. He married Delores Hagen on January 13, 1973 in Jewell. She passed away June 17, 2014. Lucky owned and operated an independent hog buying station for many years. He enjoyed raising cattle, hunting, attending rodeos and watching his granddaughters play sports.
Lucky is survived by his two sons, Travis (Peggi) Knight of Slater and Troy Smotherman of Rose Bud, AR; two granddaughters, Sydney and Sierra and his special friend and companion Jane Bauman of Story City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Delores; his daughter-in-law, Heide Smotherman and an infant grandson, Christian Jacob Knight.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
