Nancy Blomgren, 85, of Ames formerly of Stanhope, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanhope. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City.
Nancy Marie Bergeson, daughter of Leonard and Hila (Gage) Bergeson, was born January 31, 1936 in Webster City. She attended Lincoln High. Nancy was married to Bill Voorhies in 1952 and they later divorced. To that union two daughters were born, Vickie and Pam. On April 16, 1956 Nancy was united in marriage to Chester Eugene Blomgren in Huntsville, Arkansas. The couple farmed near Boone. In the spring of 1958, they moved to a farm south of Stanhope.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Weuve of Cedar Rapids, Pam Whitson of Ames, Cindy (Jim) Merron of Sioux Falls, SD, Tim (Terri) Blomgren of Stanhope, Kim (Terry) Olson of Stanhope; grandchildren, Chad (Sarah), Ashley, Joel (Ashley), Matt (Kristin), Michael (Jen), Grant (Angela), Amber, Josh (Elizabeth), Nicholas, Kyle, Adam (Laurel); 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Bergeson of Webster City; sister, Barb (Dave) Hill of Omaha, NE and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Chester in 2002; her parents; great-grandson, Noah Alan Merron; brothers, Ed and Denny Bergson.
Nancy and Chet enjoyed being members of the Stratford Strutters Square Dance Club and playing cards and cribbage. She especially loved watching NBA basketball. Spending time with her family was Nancy’s greatest joy.
