The couple farmed near Williams, then near Blairsburg. In 1979 she started as a cook at NE Hamilton School. After moving to Webster City in 1984 she started a day care in her home, she deeply loved the children and their families, and had many parties and fun events for them. The couple later moved to Blairsburg.

Waneta did scripture based inspirational talks on cups and aprons. She also enjoyed writing poetry and even won some awards for them. Waneta loved to entertain and have large gatherings where she could cook and serve big groups, making Scandinavian food including Lutefisk, potato cakes and lefsa.

Waneta loved the county fair and would help her grandkids make cream cheese mints and cookies to enter in the open classes. She also loved to watch her grandkids and great grandkids show their animals at the fair and give them handfuls of quarter to go play the carnival games.

Waneta was a strong woman, physically and mentally, not much got past her. She had many collections, including Beanie babies, coffee cups, newspaper clippings, precious moments figurines. She loved tradition, and having the family for Palm Sunday, Easter dinner and Christmas morning. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
