SANDRA RASMUSSEN

Sandy was born on February 18, 1943 in Webster City, Iowa to Ray and Virginia Hemmen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City. While in high school, Sandy met the love of her life, Doug Rasmussen. They were married in 1962 and attended UNI together. After the two moved to Des Moines, Sandy pursued a career in property management and established her own company, Crown Management while raising two daughters.

Sandy loved to travel and made family vacations around the country the norm. Following retirement, she and Doug also traveled all over Europe, spent time in Russia, Southeast Asia, South America, Australia and New Zealand. Sandy cherished her grandkids and loved expressing herself through creative hobbies such as photography, painting, pottery, singing, scrapbooking, and every other craft you can think of. Sandy lived life with fortitude and an incredible sense of beauty. Her motto was “laughter is the best medicine” and she generously bestowed that gift to all of us.

Sandy is survived by her daughters, Keiron Anatu; Chontel (Phil) Berthelsen; Grandchildren, Logan Bergemann; Talia (Justin) Bergemann-Bissonnette, Ashlin Berthelsen and Nash Berthelsen; Great Grandchildren, Hudson Bissonnette, Leo Bissonnette; Sister, Rae Jean Risetter.She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; Ray Hemmen (Father); Virginia Hemmen (Mother); Sharon Schumacher (Sister); Larry Hemmen (Brother).
