DARON J. KOEHLER

Daron James Koehler, age 51, of Fort Dodge died on October 8th, 2020 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. He was born in Fort Dodge on October 24, 1968. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1987. He was employed through LifeWorks for several years and was a member of the Friendship Center at Freedom Pointe.

Daron enjoyed comedy, old movies, and rock music. He had a respect for all creatures of the earth and found joy in visiting the animal shelter for his “feline therapy.” He was a frequent visitor to his friends at the Fort Dodge Fire Department and prior to his death had made a request for cookie delivery to them. He was quirky, witty, and had you met him on the street he likely would have shared a funny story with you. He was a comedian at heart and found humor in the mundane, often cracking himself up more than anyone else.

He was incredibly tenderhearted and faced many challenges from a young age. Thankfully, he was gifted with a steadfast stubbornness (one of the best!) that paved the way for his perseverance to make the best of what life had to offer.

Daron is survived by his parents, Carole Koehler and Ellery Koehler of Webster City and his sister, Stacey Koehler-West (Kevin) of Spokane, Washington.

Due to Covid, no gathering is planned at this time. There will be a celebration of Daron’s life when it is safe to do so.

A memorial fund has been established to benefit the peer supported Friendship Center at Freedom Pointe in Fort Dodge where Daron was a member and received much support and camaraderie. Donations may be made to People’s Credit Union, c/o Stacey Koehler-West, Webster City, Iowa.
