RICHARD SCOTT

Richard Robert Scott passed away peacefully at his home in Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, July 28th, with family present.

He was born August 7th, 1926 to parents Robert and Helen Scott in Casper, Wyoming. He attended schools in Grand Island, Nebraska; Waukee, Iowa, and Blairsburg, Iowa. Served in the U.S. Army in World War II and in Korea from 1945-1946. Married Mildred Hassebrock on November 15th 1949 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Webster City, Iowa. He was employed as an electrician for 40 years. In 1985 they moved to Des Moines, Iowa and worked together as property managers. Retired in 1996 and moved to Kimberling City, Missouri.

Dick is survived by his wife of 70 years; son, Randy (Cheryl) of Lenexa, KS; daughter, Debbie (Steve) Loneman of Wake Forest, NC. Grandchildren Andrew (Lindsay) Scott of Bedford, OH; Steven Scott of Kansas City, MO; Sarah (Samuel) Stroup of Charlotte, NC; Jacob Loneman of Wake Forest, NC; and great granddaughter Nora Scott. Siblings Pat Ward of Cascade, IA; Jack Scott of Lawrence, KS; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and son Russell Alan in infancy, sister Loretta Gotschall, brother-in-law Virgil Hassebrock. Lifetime honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf and woodworking and was employed by the Kimberling City Golf Course. He was honored for volunteer work at the Chamber of Commerce Ports of Lights in Kimberling City. Member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Our Lady of the Cove. Moved to North Carolina in 2017 to make home with daughter and family. Foster’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements; services will take place at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions.
