AVONNE LUELLA (TURNER ) FOSTER

Avonne Luella Foster, age 100, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.

Avonne was born in Hardin County, Iowa, on July 1, 1918, the daughter of Lawrence and Mabel (Nelson) Olson. She attended school and graduated from Goldfield, Iowa High School. She attended American Institute of Business of Des Moines, Iowa. She married G. Wendell Turner who died March 13, 1972. She was employed at Missouri State Charolais office and City Treasurer’s office in Chillicothe, Missouri. On February 22, 1978 Avonne married Lewis K. Foster who preceded her in death on December 8, 1999. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She served various offices with Naomi-Ruth Circle and United Methodist Women. She was a member of Missouri Federation Club and Jolly Janes Club.

Survivors include a son, James Wendell Turner of Chillicothe, Missouri; a daughter, C. Joan Meyer of Tucson, Arizona; three granddaughters and four grandsons, fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Eunice Tommingo and husband Robert of Charles City, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother L.V. “Chic” Olson; and a sister, Lola Lees.

Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion, Iowa, on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation.
