FRANCES SWANSON

Frances (Franne) Louise Swanson, 85, formerly of Williams, Iowa died on Saturday, December 22, 2018. Visitation will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams on Wednesday, December 26th, 2018, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

Franne was born on April 27, 1933, to Tommy and Louise Johnson in Wright County, Iowa. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1951. She married Dean K. Swanson on September 27, 1951, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, Iowa. She worked at Graham’s Department Store and Ralston Purina/Cargill in Iowa Falls; the Williams Library and as a Mary Kay Salesperson and Director.

She was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was part of the Ladies Aid Circle and the choir. She was also part of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Franne loved singing and directing the church choirs, walking with friends throughout the town of Williams, reading, sharing coffee and stories with neighbors, and playing cards (especially 500). Franne’s passion was her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was especially fond of holding the babies. She was a loyal supporter of her children and grandchildren’s activities and was always ready for a road trip to the next event.

Those left to cherish her memory are: five daughters: Dianne (Kim) Greenfield of Clive, IA, Pamela (Chris) Burtnett of Algona, IA, Cynthia (Allan) Mohling, of Sunrise Beach, MO, Donna (Mitch) Yeager of Grimes, IA, and Karen (Shane) Foster of Prior Lake, MN; 14 grandchildren: Kyle (Shelsie) Greenfield, Megan (Zach) Seifert, Kendra (Travis) Ziemke, Andrew (Jacqueline Rude) Burtnett, Brendan Burtnett, Aaron (Danielle Terrones) Burtnett, Christine Burtnett, Nathan (Katie Marsh) Mohling, Amber (Brian) Karst, Kellen (Dami Han) Yeager, Kendall (Laura) Yeager, Paige (John Vaubel) Foster, Brooke Foster, and Chase Foster; five great-grandchildren: Ryenn, Harper & Brinkley Seifert, and Stella & Steele Greenfield; sister-in-law Mary Ann Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; grandson Blake Foster; brothers Chet (Carole), Lawrence (Lucy), Cleo, Howard (Marge), and John Johnson; sisters Leone (Donald) Baker, Edith (Carroll) Burras (Duane Amosson), Ethel (Gene) Arthur, and Ruth (John) Katuin.

Franne’s family would like to thank the staff and especially Malloy 2N floor, for all their care and dedication in caring for our parents during their time at the Iowa Veterans Home. Memorials to be designated to the Iowa Veterans Home and the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
