ETHEL BRILL

Ethel Brill, 97, of Kamrar, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Community Church of Kamrar with Pastor Peter Mueller officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the church.

Hannah Ethel Hauge, daughter of Clarence and Anna Hendrickson Hauge, was born on September 10, 1921 in Story City. She graduated from Story City High School and Drake Teachers School. She married Elton “E.O.” Brill on October 9, 1942 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, southeast of Stanhope. Ethel was employed as a teacher, a secretary at a law firm and sold Stanley Home Products.

She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Larry) Slauson of Robins, Kristine (Leo) Asaro of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Travis (Vanessa) Slauson of Cedar Rapids, Crystal (Rich) Loy of Urbana, Alexandra (Giannis) Fikas and Vanessa Asaro, both of St. Louis, MO; great-grandchildren, Breyer, Beckham, Blakely Loy and Rowan Slauson; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elton “E.0.”; sister, Lois Eckley and brother, Gaylord Hauge.

Ethel was a member of the Community Church of Kamrar, involved in the Church Circle and Bible School. She was a choir director at the Methodist Church, a member of Webster City Women’s Club, Town and Country Garden Club and the Kamrar School Board.
