JANICE MINARSICH

Funeral services for Janice, will be held at West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway, Saturday, October 20, 2018 beginning with visitation at 9:00 am, service at 10:00 am and luncheon following. Following the luncheon, friends and family are welcome to join for the interment at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, IA (2:00PM).

Janice was born on September 28th, 1939 to Jessie and Ruby (Wright) Marrington in Webster City, IA. She was a 1957 graduate of Webster City High School. She started her career as a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell in Webster City. On January 31, 1958 she married Randall D. Rethman this union was blessed with 3 children; Richard, Kimra and Debra. Janice was involved in several activities throughout the community and church. In 1982 Janice and Randall moved to Windsor Heights to continue her career with the Phone Company and care for Randall through his failing health. Janice continue to stay active within the community and church. After Randall died in 1984 she became involved with Y.E.W.S. where she met David L. Minarsich, they were married on September 5, 1986. Janice welcomed Dave’s son Danny as her own.

Janice was a member of West Des Moines Christian Church and knew no strangers. Anyone that met Janice knew she had a heart of gold and always had time for a friendly conversation and storytelling. She took great joy ensuring everyone she met had a smile on their face. After retiring from the phone company Janice kept busy with spending time with family, friends, traveling, and her many hobbies some of which included volunteering, cooking, sewing, crafting, working part-time at Kohl’s, cleaning houses, and many church activities.

Janice was preceded in death by her first husband Randall Rethman, her parents, brother-in-law Bill Reese, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marlys (Rethman) and Wesley Olson. Janice is survived by her husband Dave, her son Richard (Shelley) Rethman of Eagle Grove, daughter Kimra (Thomas) Larson of Blairsburg, daughter Debra (Keith) Tuerk of Yardley, PA, son Danny (Erica) Minarsich of Ankeny, sister Joyce (Marrington) Reese of West Des Moines, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, WDM Christian Church, or Foundation for Prader-Willi Syndrome.
