DORIS HEIDEN

Doris Heiden, 97, of Alden, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Vernon Lutheran Church in rural Dows with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before the service. The Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Doris was born on July 25, 1921 on the family farm north of Alden to Charles E. and Margaret (Newton) Jacques. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1939 and then from Ellsworth Junior College. On August 14, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to Leo W. Heiden at the Lee Center Methodist Church.

Doris loved having her family around her and always looked forward to their visits. She also enjoyed doing word finds and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

Doris is survived by her children Karolyn (Gary) Freeman of Rockwell, North Carolina, Linda (Richard) Doyle of Story City, James (Jan) Heiden of Williams, John (Karen) Heiden of Dows and her daughter-in-law Sandra Heiden of Alden, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Merle W. Heiden, two grandsons John Freeman and Nathan Heiden, three sisters Bernice Kelly, Myrna Clifton and Dorothy Peterson, two brothers Merle Jacques and Kenneth Jaques and a son-in-law Dean W. Oltman.
