Richard Bowden, 87, Williams

Richard Bowden, 87, of Williams, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Community Church of Kamrar, southeast of Kamrar. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Richard William Bowden, son of William J. and Harriett (Carmer) Bowden, was born July 2, 1929, on a farm near Lamont, Iowa. The Bowden family moved from eastern Iowa to Humboldt County in 1945. Mr. Bowden graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1948. On July 9, 1950 Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life, Louise Hoeppner in Webster City. Richard worked for concrete products in Gilmore City, later moving to Bellevue, Nebraska where Richard was given an opportunity to begin his farming career. In 1956, they moved back to Iowa where he continued farming in the Kamrar and Williams area until his retirement in 1993.

Richard considered his family to be the greatest treasure of his life. He is survived by his wife, Louise of Williams; children, Kevin (Detty) Bowden of California, Lisa Cross of Baxter, Keith (Mona) Bowden of Alden; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Dolores Schaa of Webster City.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, James Bowden.

He was a member of the Community Church of Kamrar where he had served as a church Elder.
