Cleo Brekke, 80, Stanhope
Cleo Orlin Brekke, 80, of Stanhope died November 11, 2014 at the Stratford Care Center, Stratford, IA. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 15th at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Stanhope. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 14 at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. Burial will be at the Lake Center Cemetery, Stanhope, IA.
Cleo was born on December 3, 1933 in rural Stanhope, Iowa to Ingolf and Tilda “Tillie” Mare (Oppedal) Brekke. After graduating from Randall high school in 1951 he was a farmer until 2008 and lived his life in the Stanhope area. Cleo married Margaret Mechelson on July 6, 1963.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret; son Paul (Paula) Brekke of rural Stanhope, IA; daughter, Andrea (John) Ingram of Denison, IA and son, Tom (Amy) Brekke of rural Stanhope, IA; eight grandchildren: Nick I., Rachael I., Spencer I., Jacqueline I., Samantha B., Benjamin B., Malynda B. and Caroline B. and one sister Orvella Batchelder of Roseville, MN and two brothers Donald Brekke of Des Moines and Richard (Sandy) Brekke of Boone.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; a niece Anna Marie Batchelder, a nephew Adam Brekke and brother-in-law Chuck Batchelder.
