Richard Odor, 67, Marshalltown

Richard Odor, 67, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice, at home with his wife by his side.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Richard LeRoy Odor was born on October 5, 1946, in Webster City, Iowa; he was the son of Richard Franklin and Catherine (Diaz) Odor. He attended school in the Webster City Community School district graduating with the class of 1965; he then went on to Iowa Central Community College. On July 11, 1970, Richard was united in marriage to Sigourney Holcomb at the Church of Christ in Webster City, Iowa. They made their home in Marshalltown where Richard was the manager of Joyce Lumber, later known as Fullerton Lumber, worked at the United States Post office for a short time, and owned a shop he called “Main Street Aquariums” for a few years.

Richard was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. For many years he enjoyed cooking and trying out spicy recipes with mysterious ingredients, and in the last number of years he enjoyed television.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years, Sigourney of Marshalltown, Iowa, son, Mark Odor of Des Moines, Iowa and daughter, Lisa( Ray) Michels of Iowa City, Iowa, and his mother, Catherine of Webster City, Iowa, brothers, Jack(Barbara) Odor of Fort Morgan, Colorado and David(Darla) Odor of Duncombe, Iowa.

In death Richard rejoins his father, Richard.
