Two Hamilton County fire departments to receive cost-share grants to prevent wildfires

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday that nearly $350,000 in 50 percent cost-share grants were awarded to 105 Iowa rural fire departments to help their efforts to protect Iowans and their property from wildfire. Two Hamilton County fire departments will receive funding for the program. They are the Jewell and Kamrar Fire Departments. The grants offer valuable funding assistance for wildfire suppression personal protective and communications equipment. The grants will provide extrication gloves, new fire hose and hose nozzles.

Hamilton County Growth Partnership hosts political forum Friday

The Hamilton County Growth Partnership’s legislative forum will be held this Friday at Briggs Woods Conference Center. State Sen. Dennis Guth, and state representative Shannon Latham have confirmed they will be in attendance. Iowa Central Community College offering scholarships for trucking classes

Iowa Central Community College will be able to provide more scholarships to people seeking a commercial drivers license thanks to a newly awarded federal grant. The college received a $70,000 Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Training grant. The grant was announced by U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley, a Republican. Hamilton County Supervisors meet on Tuesday

The regular meeting of the Hamilton County Board of Supervisors will be held on Tuesday at the Hamilton County Courthouse.
