VDMC Trustees vote to reduce levy from $2.10 to $1.90 per thousand taxable valuation

The Van Diest Medical Center board of Trustees met Tuesday for their regular monthly board meeting. There were also members of the public representing citizens and businesses to hear the decision on the property tax levy for the hospital. The recommendation from the financial committee was to reduce the levy from $2.10 per thousand dollars taxable valuation to $1.90 per thousand taxable valuation. The board voted to approve the $1.90 per thousand taxable levy with a vote of six yes votes to one no vote.

Iowa DNR investigating manure spill near Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a manure release into an unnamed tributary of the South Skunk River near Ellsworth in Hamilton County. On Saturday, the DNR Field Office in Mason City was notified by Hovick Hauling, a certified manure applicator, of a manure spill near the intersection of 320th Street and Vail Avenue, northeast of Ellsworth. Graceland Cemetery cleanup to begin

The City of Webster City would like to remind everyone that the Spring Clean Up will start on Wednesday at Graceland Cemetery. It is requested that all flower boxes,wreaths, decorations and flowers (this includes items in above-ground fixtures — saddles, vases and planters) be removed before April 1.
