Lowest Mark of 9 above set in city
Webster City residents shivered in 9 above temperatures this morning after getting up to find the season's first snowfall lightly covering the ground.
The city was gripped in its second day of cold, the mercury having refused to go up above 31 all day yesterday. The 9 above mark set early today was the coldest of the season and one of the coldest early November recordings reported there in many years.
The snowfall was listed as a trace by weather officials, but it was around a quarter of an inch in unofficial estimates. Actually it wasn't the first snow of the season, some snowflakes having fallen earlier this week in late afternoon.

Hemingway/'s brother here while working on biography
Leicester Hemingway, who is currently working on a biography, "My Brother, Ernest Hemingway," which will be published in February, was a visitor at Webster City Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Hemingway had been visiting Mrs. Hemingway’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dunning of Alden.
After visiting Mr. and Mrs. Orville, Eckstein, St., Mrs. Maude Norris and Helen Kastler at Webster City, the Hamingways left early this morning for New York where Leicester will read proof on part of his book.
Three years ago, the Hemingways visited this area for four months during the winter, and during that time Leicester wrote the first half of his new books.
Leicester, as was his famous brother, is a sportsman and enjoys deep sea fishing. In addition to commercial fishing in Florida, Leicester has also escorted Winston Churchill and the king of Belgium on fishing expeditions.
