Webster City Church of Christ to host Thanksgiving Meal

A place at the table for everyone

4 min read

The Webster City Church of Christ invites the entire community to a free Thanksgiving Meal this Thanksgiving day.

Thanksgiving is a time to count our blessings, gather together, and share God's love with those around us. This Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26 the Webster City Church of Christ invites the entire community to come together for a free Thanksgiving meal at 1 p.m. at the church, located at 900 Des Moines Street in Webster City.

Whether you are surrounded by family, spending the holiday alone, new to the community, or simply looking for a place to gather, there is a seat at the table for you.

Thanksgiving is about so much more than the food on our plates. It is about gratitude, fellowship, kindness, and recognizing the blessings God has placed in our lives. It is also an opportunity to reach beyond our own homes and extend a hand of friendship to our neighbors.

Scripture reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV):"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

At Webster City Church of Christ, we believe one of the greatest ways to show our thankfulness to God is by sharing His love with others. Our hope is that this Thanksgiving meal will be more than just a meal. We want it to be a place where friendships are formed, conversations are shared, and every person feels welcomed, valued and loved. Last year close to 200 people were served and we would love to serve our community again this year!

Thanksgiving meal deliveries for homebound neighbors

For those who are homebound and unable to attend the meal in person, volunteers will begin delivering Thanksgiving meals throughout Webster City at 11:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

We recognize that not everyone can leave their home to enjoy a holiday meal. Through these deliveries, we hope to bring not only a warm Thanksgiving dinner but also a reminder that our homebound neighbors are remembered and cared for.

If you or someone you know is homebound and would appreciate a Thanksgiving meal delivered to their door, please contact Robin Streigle at 515-450-7651 to arrange a delivery.

Community donations and volunteers needed

A community Thanksgiving meal is made possible through the generosity of people who are willing to give their time, talents, and resources to bless others.

Webster City Church of Christ is inviting community members, families, businesses, and organizations to help make this Thanksgiving meal special.

Donations of turkeys, homemade pies or desserts, dinner rolls, and side salads would be greatly appreciated. Whether you are able to donate one pie, a turkey, a batch of rolls, or several dishes, every contribution helps provide a welcoming Thanksgiving meal for our neighbors.

Volunteers are also needed! There are many ways to serve, including preparing food, helping in the kitchen, delivering meals to homebound individuals, serving guests, welcoming families, and assisting with cleanup.

Perhaps you have never volunteered before, or maybe you are looking for a meaningful way to spend part of your Thanksgiving Day. We would love to have you join us!

Galatians 5:13 (ESV) reminds us: "Through love serve one another."

Thanksgiving provides a beautiful opportunity to live out those words. Sometimes the simplest acts of kindness--a warm meal, a friendly smile, a conversation, or a knock on someone's door--can make the greatest difference.

Anyone interested in donating food, helping deliver meals, or volunteering in any capacity is encouraged to contact Robin Streigle at 515-450-7651 to coordinate arrangements.

This Thanksgiving, we invite our community to celebrate the many blessings we share, to reach out to those around us, and to remember that no act of kindness is too small.

Come hungry. Come as you are. Bring a friend. There is always room for one more at the table.
