Checks from sky found and cashed
Only a partial list of those who found checks is known, but those who have cashed the checks that were dropped from the airplane yesterday, are here. Several others are known to have been cashed, but the names were not taken. It is also probable that others who found checks have not as yet cashed them and then, too, probably some have not been found. The Freeman-Journal wishes to publish the names of those who found checks and asks that any whose names are not given below notify the office.
The following individuals found checks from the aerial show: Ernest Wilson, Clyde Weedman, Mrs. P. Pappas, S. Olsen, H.B. Pray, L.V. Seamonds, M.D. Williams, Joe Tempel, Elon Lee Woods, Chs. Cage, E.C. Pilchard, Marguerite Arbogast, Cuba Downs, Howard T. Johnson, Wm. Rasmussen, Sterling Bonner and E.M. Boozel.
The checks were for either $1 or $2. The Daily Freeman Journal would like to have a complete list of all those who located the checks as part of the special promotional aerial show.

Retailers continue efforts to boost downtown
On Friday, the city council chambers were filled to capacity at an ABI coffee recognizing October as Industry Month. They also heard a presentation by Don Struchen.
For Struchen, the organizer of a group of "core" downtown retailers, this meeting capped off a whirlwind week of activity on a problem which stretches back 25 years.
Last week, Struchen called together a group of 13 people representing nine downtown retailers. These people all agreed to lead each other's employees through their stores to show them the merchandise they offered.
Struchen said education is the first step to changing the business climate: "We in retail know how the treatment of the customer is critical and the way your goods are presented is extremely critical."
