Rachel Chamberlin

Principal at Pleasant View Elementary School

Rachel Chamberlin is originally from Fort Dodge but has lived in Eagle Grove for the past 20 years. This is her third year as Principal of Pleasant View Elementary School (and the Webster City 4-year-old preschools). There are so many things Rachel loves about being Principal at Pleasant View. She loves seeing her students so happy and excited to be at school, and she loves the sense of family everyone has created at Pleasant View.

"Our academic goal is to raise students' literacy and math scores. Alongside this goal is to improve student attendance, because if they aren't at school it makes it harder for us to reach our academic goals."

She loves to show her school spirit by wearing Webster City Lynx gear. As far as words of wisdom for students at her school? She says to remember, "You can do hard things! Everyday is a new day with a fresh start!".

Will Brock

Associate Principal at Webster City Middle School

Will Brock is from Cedar Falls, Iowa and has been an administrator at Webster City Middle School since 2019. Before moving into administration, he served in several different roles in education including; teaching middle and high school social studies and serving as an instructional coach. Altogether, he has more than 18 years of experience in education. His favorite part of being a Principal at the middle school is the relationships he gets to build with students and staff. "Middle school is such an important time in a student's life, and I enjoy watching students grow academically and personally during those years." He enjoys solving problems, improving instruction and creating the best environment for kids alongside the teachers and staff. "There is something rewarding about seeing a student or staff member succeed and knowing you had an opportunity to support them along the way".

One goal he emphasizes is, "…making our school a place where every student feels like they belong and believes they can be successful. We have made significant progress academically and behaviorally, and I want us to continue building on that success." Will wants his students to leave middle school not only academically prepared, but also confident in themselves and equipped with the skills to handle challenges, make good decisions, and contribute positively to their community.

For Will, school spirit is about being present and involved. "I enjoy attending activities, athletic events, concerts, and other opportunities where I can support our students outside of the classroom." As a coach, he's had the opportunity to connect with students in a different way, and thinks it's noticeable to students when adults in their school show up. He wants them to know he's proud to be a part of their accomplishments and being a part of this school.

His words of wisdom for his students are, "Make the most of every opportunity [you] are given, and never underestimate what [you] are capable of accomplishing. Work hard, treat people well, be willing to try new things, and surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you...Success will look different for everyone, so don't spend too much time comparing your life to someone else. Keep learning, growing, and always look for ways to leave the people and places around you a little better."
