Members of the Webster City Chamber of Commerce helped owners of the Wildcat Distillery celebrate with a ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon. Owners Brad and Amanda Lemke and Alyssa and Tony Nelson cut the ribbon after John Marvel speaks on behalf of the city of Webster City, welcoming the business back into their new location as the main anchor of The Elks.
Also joining in the celebration were members of LIFT Webster City, who initiated the project to restore the building, and offering a new venue of entertainment and activity to downtown Webster City.
The two couples began making whiskey in 2020, in an effort to boost revenues to preserve their family farm. First opening in downtown Webster City in 2023, the two couples have enlarged their tasting room, built ideally for their product, and created a large space for community gatherings, musical venues and a meeting space for groups needing a quiet and relaxing space for conversation and libations.
These home grown products not only are locally grown and distilled, they were awarded a bronze medal from the American Distilling Institute, in its International Spirit's competition in 2023.
The Wildcat will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays. The Grand Opening celebration will start on Saturday afternoon, with a pulled pork meal available for a free will donation.
