The October Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Sheriff's Department Multi-Purpose Room at the Hamilton County Courthouse.
Refreshments will be served, and Van Diest Medical Center personnel will provide free blood pressure checks. The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. with announcements from local law enforcement and officials from area agencies, and upcoming events from around Hamilton County.
Trooper Paul R. Gardner, Public Resource Officer for District 7 of the Iowa State Patrol, will be the featured speaker at the October SALT meeting. Trooper Gardner will discuss the dangers of excessive speeding, the serious consequences it can have for drivers and others on the road, and why slowing down is critical to keeping Iowa roadways safe.
S.A.L.T. meetings are free and open to the public. The meetings are held bi-monthly at locations throughout Hamilton County.
