Today is final day to pay property taxes without penalty
Today is the final day for property owners to pay their taxes before a penalty is applied to their tax bill. Checks can be dropped off at the Hamilton County Courthouse at 2300 Superior St., or dropped in the drop box at the corner of the building.
The penalty for late payment is 1.5% per month on the total unpaid bill.
SALT meeting is Thursday
The October Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) will be held Thursday at the Hamilton County Sheriff's department in their muliti-purpose room.
This begins at 9 a.m. at the Hamilton County Courthouse at 2300 Superior St. in Webster City. The multi-purpose room is on the second floor.
Refreshments will be served and Van Diest Medical Center personnel will provide free blood pressure checks.
The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. with announcements from local law enforcement and officials from area agencies. This is an update about upcoming events from around Hamilton County.
The featured speaker will be Trooper Paul R. Gardner, Public Resource officer for the Iowa State Patrol. He will explain the dangers of excessive speeding, consequences and other issues that help keep Iowa roads safe.
The meeting is free and open to the public. SALT meetings are held bi-monthly at locations around Hamilton County.
Fall Festival Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church
The annual fall festival will be held Saturday Oct. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
From 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. they will be serving warm caramel rolls and apple dumplings. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a beef burger lunch.
The Fall festival will include baked goods, canned goods, crafts, seasonal items, quilts and other homemade items.
The Faith United Methodist church is located at 2020 Superior St in Webster City.
