Wilson Brewer Park and Foundation meets tonight
The Wilson Brewer Park and Foundation board meeting will be held tonight at the basement conference room at the Depot, located in the Wilson Brewer Park.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Depot is located at 220 Ohio St.
On the agenda will be an update on the Class of 1975 gift to the property of the table/shelter being designed, the kiosk signage/interpretive signs, cameras for the depot and courthouse, a donor plaque update, and updates on each of the buildings.
Under new business are estimates for a base, estimate from API on cabin roofs, the Eagle Scout projection horseshoe pits, park work session, emergency exit signs, model train display, hotel/motel grant, depot deck delay and fall fest.
Blairsburg Jam Session this Friday
The Blairsburg Jam Session will be held this Friday at the Blairburg Opera House.
All who enjoy music are invited to attend.
The jam session goes from 6 to p.m. Friday night. Musicians, dancers and listeners are invited to attend.
Jane Young House open Saturday
The Jane Young House will be open to the public on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The house, managed and supported by the Webster City Women's Club, is located at 629 Elm St., next door to the Kendall Young Library.
During the open hours, visitors can view their new clothing exhibit and the historic home that belonged to Kendall and Jane Young. In addition to the exhibits, the Jane Young House foundation has remodeled the kitchen, returning some of the kitchen facilities which would have been traditionally in the home.
The clothing exhibit highlights fashions from 1947, has an exhibit celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the United States, with their Happy Birthday America theme, and a collection of clothing from former and current retail stores in Webster City.
An additional room is dedicated to the history of the Women's Club.
Last summer, their handicapped access, which is from a ramp on the east side of the building, underwent repairs, and make the home fully handicapped accessible, with an additional lift that takes patrons to the second floor from the kitchen area.
There is no set fee to tour the building, but a free will donation is appreciated.
