Community members are invited to attend one of three upcoming meetings to learn more about the new Southern Hamilton County Meal Program, which is preparing for a November rollout in the Jewell, Stanhope and Stratford communities.
Meetings will be held throughout the week of October 19:
Stratford -- October 19 at 6 PM, Stratford Community Center
Jewell -- October 20 at 6 PM, Jewell Golf Course
Stanhope -- October 21 at 6 PM, Stanhope Community Center
The meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about the program. Residents do not need to attend the meeting in their own community, as the information shared at each meeting will be the same.
Those interested in receiving meals for themselves, a family member or friend, volunteering, supporting the program or simply want to learn more are encouraged to attend.
The Southern Hamilton County Meal Program is being developed to provide prepared, home-delivered meals to residents based on need rather than age. The program will initially serve Jewell, Stanhope and Stratford, with community meal opportunities also being considered as the program grows.
During the meetings, organizers will share details about how the program will work, who may participate, how to sign up for meals, volunteer opportunities, the role of community partners and ways individuals and organizations can support the effort.
Participant intake and enrollment will be coordinated through Hamilton County Public Health, with information about how to begin the process shared at each community meeting.
Participants will be asked to contribute what they are reasonably able to pay toward the cost of their meals. Charitable contributions and grants will help provide meal subsidies for those who are unable to pay the full meal cost.
The program is being developed with support from local volunteers, Hamilton County Public Health, Enhance Hamilton County Foundation and other community partners.
"We want these meetings to give people a clear picture of how the program will work and give community members a chance to ask questions before we get started," said Darcy Swon with Enhance Hamilton County Foundation. "Whether someone may need the program, wants to volunteer or is simply interested in helping support it, we would love to have them join us."
All meetings are open to the public, and attendees are welcome to attend whichever location is most convenient.
