KRISTIN HAMMITT
Pleasant View Elementary School – First Grade Teacher
Kristin Hammitt is a graduate of Webster City High School. She has a masters degree from Morningside College with endorsements for reading specialist, English language arts, and social studies. She taught 1st grade in Webster City for 12 years before having her fourth child. She took a year off and long-term substitute taught music at Pleasant View Elementary while also subbing throughout the building. This year, she will be teaching 1st grade at Pleasant View Elementary School.
As a lifelong Webster City resident, she and her husband, Nick have been married for seven years. She is blessed with four children: Cullin, age six; Ellowin, age four; Emerlin, age two and Ettalin who is six months old.. In addition to her role as a mother and classroom teacher, she shares a passion for teaching through movement and youth development as a dance and acro instructor at the local dance studio.
Outside of her professional and family commitments, she is an avid reader who cherishes traveling and exploring new activities alongside her husband and children. She is most excited to get back to what she loves! She missed the classroom this past year and this has made her even more eager to step into her new space and build a vibrant, warm, and welcoming environment where her students can thrive. As a bonus – she gets to teach in the same building as her son starts kindergarten.
DREW JONES
Webster City High School – English Teacher
Drew Jones is a graduate of Ballard High School in Huxley, IA. She has her bachelors in Secondary English with an endorsement in reading from Iowa State University. She did her student teaching at Woodward-Granger Middle School for 6th and 7th grade English language arts during her first placement. She then went to Halsnoy, Norway, at Øyatun Ungdomsskole, where she taught multiple subjects for 8th – 10th Graders. This year, she will be at Webster City High School teaching 9th and 10th grade English.
Originally from Huxley, IA, Drew grew up in a big household with three brothers and one sister. Being part of a big family definitely kept life interesting for her.
She's always loved music, and when she's not listening to something new, you can usually find her reading, especially nonfiction or classic books. She absolutely loves movies – whether it’s a timeless favorite or something she's never seen before, movies are one of her favorite ways to relax and unwind.
She is most excited to step into her first classroom and start building meaningful relationships with the teachers and students throughout the building. She can't wait to learn from experienced educators, contribute to a positive school culture, and create a welcoming environment where her students feel supported, challenged, and valued every day.
ABIGAIL WANDREY
NE Hamilton Elementary School – Kindergarten
Abigail Wandrey is a graduate of Ridge View High School in Holstein, IA. She has her bachelors in Elementary Education (with a minor in Special Education) from the University of Northern Iowa. She started her teaching experience with a placement at Southside Elementary in Hampton, IA and special education at CAL Elementary in Latimer, IA. This year, she will be at Northeast Hamilton Elementary teaching Kindergarten.
Outside of the classroom, she lives on a farm outside of Alexander with her fiancé, Colin. In her free time, she enjoys taking walks with her dog, baking sourdough bread, and sipping on a good iced coffee.
She is grateful for the opportunity to become part of such a supportive school community and looks forward to building relationships with students and their families. She's most excited to get to know her students and help them discover a love of learning. Kindergarten is full of growth, curiosity, and exciting firsts, and she can't wait to be a part of those moments and celebrate each student's successes throughout the year.
