Hydrant flushing starts today in Webster City
Personnel with the City of Webster City will be performing hydrant flushing in neighborhoods starting August 31. Work will begin each day at 7 a.m. and will follow the schedule below.
Monday, August 31: All fire hydrants within the area north of Second St. and East of Des Moines St.
Tuesday, September 1: All fire hydrants within the area south of Second St., north of Elm St. and East of the Boone River.
Wednesday, September 2: All fire hydrants within the area south of Elm St. and north of Ohio St.
Thursday, September 3: All fire hydrants within the area of south of Ohio St. This includes the area south of Highway 20.
Friday, September 4: All fire hydrants within the area north of Second St. and west of Des Moines St.
After work is completed, it is recommended that residents first turn on an outside water faucet for a few minutes to flush any rust or sediment from your water service line. Any discoloration of water or small particles of lime in your water should last for only a short period of time.
Flushing operations should be completed by 4:00 p.m. each day. In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen events, the flushing schedule may be adjusted. The cooperation of the public is appreciated during this period of inconvenience.
Two rural cemetery walks tomorrow
Hamilton County naturalist, John Laird will explore the history, nature and conservation of the Homer cemetery and the Neese cemetery on Tuesday.
The tour will begin at the Homer cemetery and then move to the Neese cemetery. Comfortable shoes, water and a camera are recommended for participants.
