The Riverview Early Childhood Development Center board has been meeting monthly to make final decisions on the future home of the daycare for Webster City.
The building, located 1317 Beach Street is going through a major renovation, with board members working to stay ahead of construction decisions.
Board member, Janet Adams, says they are making a lot of progress.
"We picked out the carpeting, paint colors and floor covering," she said. The floors will be laminate type flooring where the children will be located." Carpeting, she explained, will be in the office areas.
Funding for the facility is an ongoing process.
"We are still raising money, and doing well with that," she said. "We are on budget so far, some things are costing less than we thought, some are more."
According to Adams, when completed, there will be two classrooms per age level, a kitchen, a play room and an extra community room, with nine or ten classrooms.
"When completed, we hope to be able to serve 186 children," she said.
The board steering the project includes Adams, Jessica Sukraw, April Maas, Dick Anderson, Maggie Breitenkamp, Joe Studer, John Harrenstein, Nick Lincoln and April Paskey. They meet on the third Thursday of each month.
Currently children are being served at the Riverview Daycare location at 705 Odell St.
The work is being done by Woodruff Construction out of Fort Dodge. The completion date is estimated to be in February 2027.
