Webster City Market Nights celebrates America with family fun on Thursday
The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to celebrate America’s 250th birthday during a patriotic Red, White & Blue Market Nights on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in downtown Webster City. This special evening will be filled with family-friendly activities, live entertainment, local shopping, delicious food, and opportunities to celebrate our nation’s history while supporting local businesses.
A highlight of the evening will be a historical reenactment by local historian Michael Eckers, who will share what was happening 250 years ago on July 2 during America’s fight for independence. Visitors can stop by the RSVP Building from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. to experience this unique presentation.
Families will find activities around every corner, including: FREE Kona Ice for the first 250 children, sponsored by Platinum Connect; Touch a Truck featuring local heroes and their emergency and service vehicles; Doodle Bugs and tractors; a bounce house sponsored by Aliya Massman, Realtor with Abens Realty; Inflatable Rain Gutter Races; derby car demonstration races; knot -tying activities with Scouting America Troop 17 and Cub Scout Pack 583; live music by Kris Karr, music sponsor Seneca Foundry; Freedom Wall where visitors can share patriotic messages; a prayer tent hosted by the Webster City Church of Christ; American Legion and Hamilton County Veteran Affairs will be distributing flags, swag, hot dog and coney dog meals.
Children are encouraged to participate in the Youth Produce Program, where they can complete a fun activity to earn Produce Bucks that can be redeemed for fresh fruits and vegetables from participating Market Nights vendors.
Those who preordered a Market Nights in a Box can pick up their box filled with fresh, locally grown and produced items from Market Nights vendors.
Community members of all ages are invited to dress in their favorite patriotic attire and participate in the Best Dressed Red, White and Blue Contest. Participants can stop by the Chamber booth to have their photo taken for online voting. Both youth (Born to Sparkle) and adult contest (Mr. and Mrs. Red, White and Blue) divisions will be recognized.
