La Bonita Bar & Grill opens in downtown Webster City

The familiar front doors have changed color, reflecting a change as the new name of La Bonita Bar & Grill, located at 615 Second St sits proudly above the door.
The former location of the Second St. Emporium, the new restaurant is in it's second week of operation, offering a soft opening as they hire and get final licenses to serve liquor. The new restaurant is managed by Aristeo Montes who is in partnership with Carmello Sierra,
Sierra said his menu is mixed, with Mexican and traditional south-west Texas items on the menu, in addition to seafood items from the Cancun area.
This is the third location of La Bonita Bar & Grill, also serving the Windsor Heights and Eagle Grove communities. He has had his location in Windsor Heights for three years and Eagle Grove for about four years. Sierra has been in the restaurant business for 25 years.
When he purchased the building, there was a lot of work to be done.
"We had to replace 50% of all the plumbing," he said, "We had to remove the whole roof."
He said he had to do a lot of work upgrading the kitchen, with new hoods, new dishwashers, new grills, to get a better finished product.
"It's like a new kitchen," he said.
In addition, he has replaced the heating and air conditioning system.
The restaurant is located in the center of the downtown district. Sierra hopes to offer some special promotions and features in the future.
