Iowa State Patrol releases names of victims of Wednesday’s crash on Highway 20
The Iowa State Patrol has released the names of the two drivers who died in the crash on Highway 20 Wednesday.
According to the Iowa State accident report, Joseph Kennedy of Alden, who was driving a 2017 Chevy Silverado pickup, age 69 was pronounced dead at the scene. Aaron Scott Gomez of Harlingen, Texas, age 40, was driving a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup. Gomez was taken to the Van Diest Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to the state report, Kennedy was eastbound in the westbound lane of highway 20, when he struck the Gomez vehicle in the inside lane of Highway 20. Kennedy’s vehicle came to rest in the median, while the Gomez vehicle was on the outside shoulder.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The crash occurred shortly after noon on Thursday, within a few miles of the westbound exit to Webster City according to Hamilton County Sheriff Alex Pruismann. Highway 20 westbound was closed for nearly three hours, and traffic was detoured to alternative routes during that time.
The crash remains under investigation.
