Hamilton County Fair Spelling Bee Wednesday
The Hamilton County Fair will be hosting aSpelling Bee on Wednesday at the Ed Prince Stage. Registration for the event begins at 1 p.m., and the event will officially start at 1:30 p.m.
48 Bee bags will be given to participants. Sponsors are Treasure Acres of Williams, Stuck Farms of Jewell and Stuck Raw Honey of Jewell.
Jane Young House open for visitors Saturday
The Webster City Women's Club will be opening the Jane Young House, located at 629 Elm St, Webster City Saturday. The building will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for visitors to view their new clothing exhibit and tour the house.
The clothing exhibit highlights fashions from 1947, Happy Birthday America, and a collection of clothing from former and current retail stores in Webster City. Another room is dedicated to the history of the Women's Club. There is a lot of history and a beautiful house to view.
A free will donation is always appreciated. The house is handicap accessible from the east entrance ramp.
Scott Jaycox Memorial Youth Shoot July 29.
The Scott Jaycox Memorial Youth Shoot, sponsored by Hamilton County Pheasants Forever and Little Wall Lake Ducks Unlimited, will be held Wednesday, July 29 at the Boone Valley Izaak Walton.
The event will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Izaak Walton, which is located at 2944 Fenton Ave. south of Webster City. The competitions are for target shooting, trap shooting and archery. This event is open to youth between the ages of 8 and 18 years of age.
A signed waiver is necessary, which is available at the Hamilton County Fair, south of the Ed Prince building. The completed form should be delivered to the Extension office at the fair, or on the night of the shoot.
