The Friends of the Kendall Young Library invites the community to “A Novel Evening”, an elegant dinner and entertainment fundraiser benefiting the Kendall Young Library Children’s and Families Department, on Saturday, July 18.

The Kendall Young Library is loathed at 1201 Willson Ave. in Webster City.

The evening begins with a free public author reading at 5:30 p.m. featuring local Iowa author Darcy Dougherty Maulsby, who will share an excerpt from one of her works and discuss the inspiration behind her writing. Community members are welcome to attend this special presentation at no cost, making it an opportunity for book lovers of all ages to connect with a celebrated Iowa author.

Following the author presentation, the ticketed fundraiser begins at 6:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy a thoughtfully curated literary-themed dinner, live music, and an evening celebrating the joy of reading, storytelling and lifelong learning.

Proceeds from “A Novel Evening” will directly benefit the Kendall Young Library Children’s and Families Department, supporting programs, materials, and services that inspire young readers, encourage lifelong learning, and provide meaningful opportunities for families to learn and grow together.

Tickets for the dinner fundraiser are $65 per person. Tickets can be purchased online at kylib.org or at the adult checkout desk in the front entrance of the Kendall Young Library.
