Design team for WCHS on hand again today to hear ideas and concepts for future
The design team from FEH Architects spent all day Tuesday at the Webster City High School, touring the building, sketching out ideas, looking at the infrastructure of the building that was new 65 years ago.
At that time, everyone was excited about the new courtyard at the high school. Now they are looking at enclosing it.
And there are good reasons for everything they are considering.
This is the type of discussion that is happening between the architects and the individuals who have taken the time to study some potential changes to the high school campus and solve the problems that have surfaced after 65 years.
Tyler Riley, Denny Sharp, Brady Daniel, Bill Decker and Noah Schulte are the team from FEH Design who were on hand all day on Tuesday, touring the building and talking with administration and community members interested in the project.
Amelia Oliver, communications director for the Webster City Community School district said they didn’t have a lot of people come through, but those who did seemed very engaged and pleased at the work already done on a design
“They had some really good conversations,” said Oliver, “I think these designers have really thought it through which is comforting for people to hear.”
“It’s very inclusive,” she said, “It seems they have a design for everybody.”
Only about 20 people had attended the first day of the architects information gathering event. They will be on hand again on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will again do a presentation at 6 p.m. for the public.
“This is only the start of the community conversations,” said Oliver. “There are other meetings, the next one is on the 15th of July, and there will be more dates when they will go into more depth on their designs.”
Tyler Riley is a member of the FEH team on hand during the two days.
“Nothing is set in stone,” Riley urged, “Come with any ideas you have. If you know that there are improvements that will instill pride in the community, we want to hear them.”
“They want ideas for more than the district, it’s not just about the school district but what is good for the community, ” Oliver summarized.
Anyone who has an interest, concerns or ideas are encouraged to attend this event and future events held to develop a plan. If questions, contact Amelia Oliver at aoliver@wcschools.org.
