Corgi Race registration open now

Registration is now open for the 2026 Hamilton County Fair Corgi Races. Registration for participants is due by July 16.

The second annual Corgi races will be held Wednesday, July 22, at 6 p.m. This will again be held in the Hamilton County Fair show arena at the fairgrounds.

Sponsored by the Hamilton County Farm Bureau, there is no registration fee. Only a parking pass is needed to participate.

All animals participating must have proof of current vaccinations and kennel cough to participate.

Last year was the first year to offer the Corgi races. According to Randy Greufe, Hamilton County Farm Bureau president, in past years they held a Farm Bureau cook-off, but due to low participation, he suggested they try this event.

“We had about 30 dogs registered,” said Sandra Greufe, who helped organize the event with her husband Randy. “The show arena was packed full, it went over really well.”

Brian Denekas, who was the announcer at the race last year, will once again be the announcer at the race.

Owners who have their dog registered need to be ready at 5:15 p.m. at the show arena on the day of the race.

After the race, pup cups will be given to all participants from the beer tent.

During the Corgi Races, there will also be a place to make donations for the K-9 units. Donations will be split evenly between the Webster City Police Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.

Starting at $3.46/week.
