The city council meeting on Monday night started with a concerned citizen distributing a written statement to each of the council members concerning the Gateway Industrial Park and the potential exploration of data centers for the area.
Paul Moberly spoke during the Citizens Comments at the beginning of the meeting.
"I'm here because of non-routine airplanes flying over our county," he began, "We deserve transparency."
He reviewed a statement that was a request for a 47 page document that he has researched, concerning the potential use of Industrial Park land. Copies of that full document were to be distributed to each of the council members, and he requested that this be considered for discussion at the next meeting of the city council. He also requested his document be part of the public record.
His request had three points: to assure there is oversight, that there is financial transparency and that there is accountability.
In other business:
-approved liquor licenses for DelMonte 3LLC (La Bonita Bar & Grill), and renewed licenses for La Perla Jarocha, Kwik Star #1700, C'& C's American Tap for expanded service for Angel Tree Ride on August 29
-approved the use of the public parking area in the 500 block, (south parking lot), closing it August 29 for the Angel Tree Ride committee and American Tap.
-approved an ordinance amending the definition of the city in the use of shipping containers on private property. The exceptions are during renovation projects or new construction. The third reading was waived and adopted.
-approved a resolution setting August 3 at 6:05 p.m to renew the City-Wide Urban Revitalization plan.
-approved the renewal of the 3 year residential tax abatement for new construction projects.
-changed the definition of a golf cart to include both 3 and 4 wheel golf carts.
-approved the application for tax abatement on new construction by Jody and David Wagner
-approved the resolution authorizing the construction services with Snyder & Associations for $140,800, which includes the public inspection of the street construction of Willson Estates off of Wall St.
