City Council meeting includes public hearing on the Hazard Mitigation Plan, nuisance hearing

The agenda for tonight’s city council meeting sets the stage for a number of issues that have been considered in depth in recent months.

The public hearing on the Hamilton County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, is probably the most important issue, with the document exceeding 550 pages at the center of the consideration.

This outlines the plans for the entire county, and it is required for each county to maintain a Hazard Mitigation Plan to minimize effects of an emergency before it occurs. This plan needs to be updated, and if not, if there would be a disaster within the city or Hamilton County, it would disqualify the county from eligibility for federal assistance.

This is the first of three public hearings on this plan.

A public hearing will also be held on the amending of the Code of Ordinance defining the City of Webster City. This will be the second public hearing, and if passed, the third public hearing may be waived.

An additional public hearing will be to renew the City-wide urban revitalization pan for residential

There will also be a nuisance hearing requested by the owner of a residential property in Webster City.

In addition items on the agenda include several renewals of liquor license, include a request for expanded service to for the Angel Tree ride set for August 29, and for closure of the south parking lot in the 500 block for that event

Regular reports, and bills will be presented throughout the meeting.

– setting time and place for a public hearing on proposal to renew the

City-Wide Urban Revitalization Plan for Residential Tax Abatement.

-First Reading of an ORDINANCE amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of

Webster City, in Definitions relating to golf carts.

-A resolution authorizing approval of Application for the Webster City Revitalization

Plan involving Residential Tax Abatement.

-A resolution authorizing the Construction Services for the Public Scope of Work in

the amount of $140,800.00 with Snyder & Associates,

-A resolution supporting the Application of Webster City Custom Meats, Inc. to the Iowa Economic Development Authority

The public is invited to make comments at the beginning of the meeting for up to 5 minutes on subjects not on the agenda. Public comment cannot be made on items not on the agenda in any other time period.
