Hamilton County showed up; nearly 20% cast ballots in Primary Tuesday

Nearly 20% of the 9,600 registered voters in Hamilton County voted at the Tuesday Primary election.

In the Republican race for Iowa House District 55, Beau Klaver won the chance to face Cynthia Oppedal Paschen for the seat in the fall election.

Klaver, from Kamrar received a total of 1,048 votes. His opponent Kurtis Bower received 135 votes, and Brian Young, who had withdrawn from the race received 88.

The Republican races for U.S. Senator were declared early. Ashley Hinson received 974 votes to Jim Carlin’s 290. Hinson will run against Democrat Josh Turek in the fall election. Turek received 383 votes, while Zach Wahls received 183 votes.

In statewide races, the Republican race for the Auditor of State between Lt. Gov. Chris Cournoyer and Abigail Maas had Cournoyer winning only by 2 votes.

In the Republican race for governor, Hamilton County also supported Zach Lahn over Randy Feenstra. Lahn received 558 votes, with Feenstra at 509 votes. Adam Steen received 133 votes, Brad Sherman 58 votes and Eddie Andrews 33 votes.

It was also a close race in the Democratic race for U.S. Representative Dave Dawson received 197 votes, winning over Ashley WolfTornabane with 187 votes and Stephanie Steiner with 149.

The other local and state races were uncontested.
