WCHS Graduation Class of 2026

The Webster City High School Class of 2026, with diplomas in hand, reach to turn their tassels at the close of commencement ceremonies Sunday.

The 2026 commencement exercises for Webster City High School were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Webster City HIgh School performance gym, where 117 students received their diplomas

Senior class president, Ashley Nydegger, welcomed the students, faculty, and guests to the commencement program.

The two students who spoke on behalf of the senior class were Margarita Perez Raymundo, whose topic was “Through Effort and Perseverance,” in which she told her story in both English and Spanish.

Hailey Brim whose speech was “There is no path till you walk it,” shared her thoughts using poetry and quotes to offer guidance to her classmates.

The Webster City High School band performed the national anthem and the song “Stay,” while the Varsity Singers sang two selections: “God Bless America” and “A Little Song of Life.”

Principal Jason Wedgbury introduced school board president Dave Stoakes and Superintendent Matt Berninghaus who presented the diplomas to the graduates.

During the procession there were various identifying stoles and cords. Those who wore white stoles were members of the National Honor Society. Some students wore stoles that were from their church in honor of their graduation. There were also various other cords given to students during the Senior Award night Wednesday which were worn over their gowns.

There were special blue cords for students who took classes at Iowa Central. Those who earned those included Jackson Barner, Hayley Becker, Regan Blaisdell, Hailey Brim, Alivia Burns, Justin Callahan, Jakaela Cherry, Braylon Dyvig, Cindy Gomez Lopez, Maja Gordon, Jaxon Griffith, Clara Grossoehme, Morgan Hackbarth, Kenley Koop, Gavin Malloy, Heidi Mendoza, Jackson Meyer, Carter Mickelson, Marissa Miller, Brooklyn Neddermeyer, Wilmer Pailla Chavez, Ellie Peterson, Addelyn Pruismann, Janey Putney, Jameson Stansfield, Gabriel Thumma, Hunter Vue, Bria Wallerich, Jay Wiese, Syrus Willard and Benjamin Youngdale.

Teal cords were also earned by those who worked on the Dance Marathon. Those include Jack Barner, Hailey Brim, Alivia Burns, Jakaela Cherry, Jaxon Griffith, Clara Grossoehme, Aiden Hrnicek, Heidi Mendoza, Brooklyn Neddermeyer, Ashlee Nydegger, Janey Putney, Jamey Stansfield and Gavin Wynkoop.

Red cords were worn by students who were blood donors. Those were Ashlee Nydegger, Bria Wallerich, Clara Grossoehme, Jakaela Cherry, Justin Callahan and Salena Inthisane.

Associate Principal Ayn Ecklund introduced the Cessna Scholars. Those students earned a grade-point average of 3.75 or above and also received yellow cords to be worn over their gowns. They are Jackson Barner, Regan Blaisdell, Josslyn Carden, Destiny Cortes, Clara Grossoehme, Morgan Hackbarth, Alivia Hector, Aiden Hrnicek, Arlen Lake, Jackson Meyer, Sean Morgan, Brooklyn Neddermeyer, Ashlee Nydegger, Sylvia Otteros, Wilmer Padilla Chavez, Addelyn Pruismann, Janey Putney, Rinoa Raygor, Jameson Stansfield, Jasmin Venegas and Benjamin Youngdale.
