Over $100,000 in local scholarships were presented during the 2026 Senior Awards night held at the Prem Sahai Auditorium on Wednesday night.
That number does not include the Cessna Scholarship winners or many of the Iowa Central awards and other awards presented after press deadlines. This will be published at a later time.
Some of the highlights were the Beverly Oppold-Blessman Whaley Scholarship, which was presented for the second time this year with a $7500 scholarship to Alivia Burns.
The A.J. Julian Scholarship was given to Jackson Barner, a scholarship for $4,000 for two years and the Cleo Taylor Graham Art Scholarship, a $5,000 annual scholarship for up to 4 years was awarded to Marley Runyan.
Not all the awards earned during the year were reflected in money, but achievements earned by the students that set a high standard. The Presidential Education Achievement Award was given to Brooklyn Neddermeyer and Sylvia Otteros; and the Presidential Education Excellence Awards was again given to Neddermeyer, Otteros and Benjamin Youngdale.
