Cross Walk on Good Friday to begin at Asbury Church

A community Cross Walk is being held tomorrow on Good Friday throughout the city of Webster City.

The event, sponsored by a group from the Asbury United Methodist Church, is hoping the city-wide walk will involve people of all ages and all churches.

Jamie Seiser, one of the organizers, said the experience should help commemorate the final walk Jesus made through the streets prior to his crucifixion as the community prepares to celebrate Easter.

The walk wiill begin at 3:30 p.m., gathering at the Asbury Methodist church at 921 Des Moines St. The walk will begin from the church, and travel down to Second Street then to Seneca St., walking south to Ohio St. along the cemetery to Beach St. and then walk back to the church.

There will be various stops along the route, with prayers and short readings. The Asbury bus will follow the route, and assist those who find the route too long for them.

All are encouraged to participate, and dress for the weather with good walking shoes. In the event of drastic weather changes, there may be modifications to the route.

There will be a light supper will be served at the church at the completion of the walk. There will also be a Good Friday service that will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the church.
